So only money spent on wages so far with 10 days to go to the start of the season.
I expect Fordstar to blame Noble for this and I expect some knicker wetting replies that D&G are doing a shit job this year. Personally I think we have done some good business but desperatly require a classy forward if Sakho is going.

Nagel - I had forgot about Martinez and just assumed the 2 youngters originally mentioned were Fletcher and Quina, or whatever his name is.
Before we knew about the poss deptartures of Valencia and Sakho it was accepted by pretty much everyone that if we are to push on we need a top drawer striker, that has NOT changed. You may be right that we won't need anyone else after replacing Sakho and Valencia, but that will only be the case if a top striker isn't one of the replacements. Numbers don't win you things, quality does.

Fletcher is 20 and Martinez 19.
We don't need more than these two players plus Carroll and the replacements for Valencia and Sakho.
They're all competing for only one position anyway given how many wide forwards we now have.

Russ - To be honest I'm more just basing it on the fact that it is universally recognised that before the Sakho situation the club deeemd it very important and a priority to bring in a top striker, so for Sakho to go and just one to come would completely go against that notion.
Noted ref the 2 youngsters but we def can't be hanging our coats on them, one is only 16 years old.

I am far more concerned about the defence than a forward. With Cresswell out for 4 months and Tomkins sold I think we are very weak on both right and left back. When will we get this sorted?
Yes defence really is my worry. A new forward would be nice and is needed, but I can see we have goals with Carroll, Antonio, Ferguson, Valencia, Payet, Lanzini and Noble

Possibly. It would leave us with Carroll, Valencia and the new lad (whoever it may be). Plus, Fletcher and Martinez as young players with potential.
So, yeah, you are probably right. Valencia's form is always up and down and Carroll's a fucking broken doll. I don't think Bilic is expecting to rely on Fletcher and Martinez. So replacement and one other would be good.
Just a replacement for Sakho would be a good start.
I may bet canned for this but I thought Emineke was decent enough. May have been worth nagging onto him for another season or two. Just to bolster numbers. Seemed to me to be the type of player that may have torn that mob we played the other week a new one.

The idea isn't to spend as much as you can.
Just cos you've spent loads of money that doesn't equal a successful transfer window.
We will spend some money by the end of the window but I'm happy with what we have done so far.
If you can bring in a few players to make the team stronger and only spend minimal money that would be the perfect scenario,
